Mother

A pint size lady of barely 5ft
She was bright like the full moon
while her groom was like the black moon
She lived with him for barely 30 years
She became his wife, partner and at times teacher and mother
She bore him 2 sons to carry his name
Slogged for his family and fed his guest
for duty, not for fame

He fell to cancer and little pain
She stood and nursed him again

He fell out of life and into death
She could not stand and went amok

She lost her mind for a while
Jumping and wailing
Banging her head on the wall
Asking God for her groom again to call

She wanted to kiss his lips and say "I love you" again
Pity, time has robed her forever

She picked up herself to move on
for her 2 sons to carry on

In the light of day she seems fine
Earning wages for her to freely dine

In the cloak of night she hides her sorrow
In sadness with tears, she wets her pillow
