Welcome
one welcome all
to
our lovely hall
We
have a ceiling not just a tent
which
the groom is paying rent
To
celebrate we’re here, let’s make it last
Our
lives so short, this world so vast.
A
philosopher and maiden fair,
a
paisley tie and daisy-ed hair
Come
to you for witness true,
Each
and every one of you.
To
profess their love and share it with
those
who've had so much to give
those
who taught them what they know,
upon
whose love we chanced to grow.
This
union will be different from
the
weddings that you've seen done
No
priest, no holy flame
No
officer for which they have already been done
My
name is Sashi, and with me is Kavitha
We'll
be master of this ceremony
we
can but guide... not preside;
that
is left for the groom and bride.
They
two will speak their words of love
And
show about their wedding from far above
Civil
ceremony in Richmond Park
They
exchanged vows and their love is not apart
He
tied the thali in Wandsworth Hall and made her his
A
maiden for him to love and kiss.
Our
bride and groom are ready to come,
So
settle down dear friends, no matter where you’re from.
The poem above was the opening for my friends wedding while i was the Emcee
